Daddy's Little Valentines

We had a great Valentine's Day. Not only was Josh off of work but he decided not to take any sub jobs either so that he could spend the full day at home with his girls. The night before Valentine's Day Josh and I managed to sneak in a last minute date and catch a late showing at the movie theater after the girls were in bed. It was nice to get away and be in the company of each other without having to worry about feeding Caroline or tending to Abigail's potty training schedule. Surprisingly, despite our exhaustion we both managed to stay awake during the entire movie. (Is it sad that we judge whether or not our date was a success based upon whether or not we stayed awake the entire time?) Welcome to parenthood!

The real Valentine's date worth sharing with you however took place Monday afternoon. Josh decided he wanted to start the tradition of taking his girls out on a Daddy/Daughter Valentine's Date. Seeing as how Caroline is still a little too young to actually partake and interact on any sort of date, this Valentine's Day was all about Abigail. When asked by her daddy what she wanted to do on their date she mentioned two things...pizza and a cone (meaning ice cream cone). It's no secret that Abigail has her daddy wrapped around her little finger. Even so he still manages to hold his own at times and set a few boundaries. For their special Valentine's Date though? Now that's another story. You better believe for this date, the "princess" was going to get whatever she wished for. First stop? CiCi's Pizza. Abigail absolutely loves pizza...and believe me, she can hold her own when it comes to eating it. Typically Abigail is a pepperoni kind of girl...not anymore. Thanks to her daddy, Abigail has discovered Macaroni and Cheese Pizza. While it sounds disgusting to me, I wish you could have seen the smile on Abigail's face as she took in not 1, not 2, but 3 pieces of this so-called cheesy piece of heaven. As if that wasn't enough to kill any nutritional value in a 2 year old's diet, there was still one more stop to make. Next stop? McDonald's. After all, the princess did request a cone.

All in all I think the two would agree that this date was a great start to their new Valentine's Day tradition. I'm pretty sure Abigail already thought her daddy hung the moon but after Macaroni and Cheese Pizza and a vanilla cone from McDonald's, there's no question in her mind...he did. Happy Valentine's Day!
