Josh and I have been blessed to lead a small group for the past 3 years now.  Our small group consists of 7-8 families and has quickly multiplied over the years in numbers when it comes to children.  I believe we are currently up to 20 kiddos with 2 more on the way in the next few months.  If there is one thing that has made Kerrville feel like home over the past few years, it is our small group.  We have been blessed beyond measure when it comes to community and there are simply no other families I would rather have by my side to travel through life's ups and downs with.

This summer we decided to take our small group to the "next level" when it comes to togetherness and adventure.  On June 1st, 2012 a new tradition was born.  We packed our bags, loaded our cars and set out for our 1st Annual Small Group Family Camp.  We were certain we had created a recipe for disaster...after all, what else do you expect when you plan to take 6 families, consisting of 12 adults, 14 kids (all 5 and under), and 2 very pregnant ladies out for a weekend in the Great Outdoors?  Despite the endless possibilities though of all that could go terribly wrong, it was worth the chance that we could walk away with memories to last us a lifetime.

One of the mommies in our small group found the perfect campground for us along the Frio River near Concan/Leakey.  It literally was the perfect set-up for our group.  Not only did we have a few tent sites for the daddies and older kiddos to stay the night at but we "splurged" and rented a small cabin for the mommies and babies to sleep in complete with AC and a full kitchen.  We truly had the best of both worlds.

To everyone's surprise the weekend went off without a hitch.  Somehow we managed to escape the drama of meltdowns, temper tantrums, missing children, and serious injury and instead found ourselves enjoying a fabulous weekend full of great weather, fun fellowship, and unforgettable memories.  We are excited about the many camping trips still yet to come for our group and even more excited to continue walking alongside our dear friends and their precious families as we simply do life together.
